Chocolate Fudge Keto Fat Bombs

Chocolate Fudge Keto Fat Bombs

Intro - Grocery List - Directions - Macronutrients - Leftovers and Meal Prep

If you find yourself hungry between meals, you may want to add a go-to ketogenic fat bomb recipe to your weekly meal prep. Fat bombs are made of, well, mostly fat and resemble bite-sized energy balls. Most energy balls are made from high-carb ingredients like oats and dried fruit.

To be considered keto-friendly, fat bombs should be made from 85% fat to support ketogenic macro levels and keep you in a state of ketosis. Healthy fat ingredients like coconut butter, coconut oil, cream cheese, and nut butter are typically used to create the base of fat bombs. Then, flavoring is added. For texture, additional shredded coconut, chopped nuts, or seeds can be added to the fat bombs.

Fat bombs are excellent for keeping you full between meals and also easing the transition into eating keto. Since they’re made mostly from fat, just a single fat bomb can help provide energy and keep you feeling full and satisfied for hours. They can also be used as a pre-workout snack for sustained energy.

Fat bombs can be made either sweet or savory, so don’t let this recipe limit your creativity. But, in general, sweet recipes are more popular and make a perfect dessert-like treat.

Most traditional desserts are off-limits on a ketogenic diet, since they’re high in refined carbohydrates and sugars. Luckily, you can create a fudge-like texture by adding a small amount of a low-carb flour to a fat bomb recipe. In this recipe, we use coconut flour, which is made from dried, ground up coconut meat. Almond flour or meal could also be used in fat bomb recipes as an alternative.

Fat bombs are a no bake recipe, so they’re quick and easy to make. This recipe features chocolate, but there’s endless fat bomb variations you can experiment with to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Leftovers and Meal Prep

This recipe makes enough fat bombs to last an individual about two weeks if you were to eat two of them per day. How many you eat a day will depend on your personal goals and macronutrient goals. This would be a great recipe to make if you are just starting keto as they can give you a quick, satisfying snack along with an energy boost.

You can store leftover fat bombs in an airtight container or storage bag in the freezer to have on hand at any time. Simply allow to thaw 5-10 minutes at room temperature before eating. You can also store the fat bombs in the refrigerator, but you may want to separate them into layers with pieces of parchment or wax paper in between to prevent them from sticking together. Fat bombs can also be enjoyed immediately out of the refrigerator.

Additional Comments

Change the flavor of the fat bombs by experimenting with different low-carb flavor additives, like ground cinnamon, ginger, pumpkin spice, and/or vanilla or other flavored extracts. Consider adding low carb nuts or even a small amount of berries for variety.
